Comment: This is an outstanding specimen with huge, freestanding crystals to 1.2 cm, including one particularly robust and sharp crystal of 12mm, that is just exquisite. For graphite, also, its thick and robust. The contrast on white calcite is striking. I regard this as the best specimen of the find, that was to be sold. Graph08 is etched out of blue calcite, it was from a few chunks of blue calcite with graphite crystals running through it. Graphite seldom crystallizes in nature in beautiful crystals. To expect them on nice contrasting matrix, is even more ambitious for the collector! These are some of the choicest pieces found in a small pocket recovered by Donald Doell Jr., in late 2007. Most of those graphites are on a feldspar matrix, some with very rough feldspar crystals, they probably grew off the feldspar into a calcite vein that later weathered/etched out naturally. A showcase of this material was exhibited at Tucson 2008. I have seen other graphite crystals before but...These crystals are the shinest, most metallic and lustrous of any I have seen from other localities.
