Comment: A very old, specimen from the Luciano Floris collection, acquired during the 1971 Ivrea mineral show. It consists in a black ore matrix, completely covered by a layer of millimetric Dolomite and chalcopyrite crystals, supporting a lot of undamaged Calcite crystals including a remarkable 5x1.5x1 cm doubly terminated one . The calcite crystals are translucent with transparent or semitransparent tips, the natural colour is a grey with a yellowish hue. Under mid and long and mid wave length UV light they show a strong purple fluorescence while the dolomite shows a medium intensity white fluorescence. This time I can show a good UV pic, obtained using a 312 nm source. Thanks to the very efficient UV filter built in inside my new Nikon D700 camera, the reflected UV radiation has been cut off, the colours I see in my display are not exactly the same I see with my eyes but they are not significantly different and photoshop correction is no more neccessary.
Minerals: Calcite (CaCO3) Chalcopyrite (CuFeS2) Dolomite (CaMg(CO3)2)
