Comment: This is some of the most famous and well known Tourmaline from the United States. Long before the pegmatite localities in San Diego County, California, the various pegmatites in Maine were producing some of the most sought after, vivid colors of Tourmaline in the world. This gem is from a piece of rough that was mined by Dean McCrillis in the early 1970's. The rough was a gift to Richard Kosnar. This stone is a beautiful, pale blue color, very very slighly included (very often the material from Maine has some slight inclusions), gemstone with an "Emerald" cut from this spectacular New England locality. These gems are prized by collectors and dealers alike, and would make a great addition to a Tourmaline suite, a collection of U.S. gemstones, or even a collection of gemstones from Maine.
